Kitty Nails

There was a time when we all went crazy over hello kitty, and most of us still are up to now. Who wouldn't? Hello kitty is so adorable. You'll find her on almost everything these days, from clothing and accessories to biscuits and candies. Oh wait! there's even a hello kitty makeup line. :)

It may seem a bit complicated but these kitty nails are quite simple to do.

Nail Colors: OPI onyx black, China Glaze dandy lyin' around, Essence 118 little miss sunshine & 114 fame fatal and FaceIt Repair Nails gel coat

Materials: Dotting tools

So here's how:

I've used different sizes of dotting tools to create the eyes nose whiskers and bow.

Making the bow is simple, just make one dot for the center and add two other dots on each side. Using a smaller dotting tool, connect the side dot to the center dot creating a triangle shape, do that to other side as well.

Lastly, add a layer of top coat.

Crayon Effect Nails

I love crayons when I was young, who doesn't? :) There's so much you can do with it. I had fun using it on art projects or even just drawing and coloring by myself. This is some kid's stuff you won't get enough of.

So for my nail art this week, I did a crayon-like effect design and I'm going to show you how.

Here are the materials and nail polishes that I've used.

Nail Colors from "THEFACESHOP", Clean Paper, Fan Brushes
After cleaning my nails, I've first painted it with a base coat. Then, I put 2 coats of a light purple as my base color.

With a drop of a blue color nail polish on a clean sheet of paper, I dipped a fan brush and brushed it onto my nails.

With the same process as above, I took a green color nail polish and put a drop of it on the paper and dipped the fan brush and brush it again onto my nails.

Note: Apply a little pressure while brushing. This will help achieve the grungy crayon-like effect.

Moving on to the third color which is a darker purple nail polish, I've also placed a drop of it on the paper and dipped the clean fan brush and brush it onto my nails.

Note: Clean the fan brush after you do the next color coz the bristles will stick together as the nail polish dries.

Lastly, with the purple base color that I've used earlier I did the same thing as above.

Note: You can repeat the process until you get your desired look.

After making sure that it is completely dry, I've put a layer of top coat.

And now I have a crayon effect nails. This also looks like an impressionist style painting. :)

Matte about you

Hey guys, this time I'll show you a quick and simple yet amazing nail art that will rock your day. :)

Yup, these are matte nails... Aren't they gorgeous? :) And they are super easy to do.

Here's how:
  • After putting your base coat, add two coats of black nail polish (Note: You can use other colors). I've used OPI Onyx Black.
  • Let it dry completely.

  • Apply 2 coats of matte finisher. I've used "Matte about you" from Essie.

The matte effect is so amazing! The texture is great & it dries fast too. You can wear it just like that or you can add designs to make it more fun.

I've used different dotting tools and a glossy top coat.

So here's how:
  • First, add lines using the glossy top coat to create a contrasting look & feel.
  • Then, use the dotting tools to add small and/or big dots following the slanted glossy lines.
  • You can repeat this to the rest of your nails or you can do other patterns to make it more interesting.

See how simple & easy it is? :)

Have fun!!!

Easter Special Checkered Nails

I came across this nail kit at "The Face Shop" last week and since it's Easter this sunday, this will be a great theme. The kit has three pastel colors that suits the Easter motif plus the checkered design looks like easter eggs. :)

Pastel Check
I also took a photo of the procedure from the shop 'coz the one at the back of the box is in Korean language.

So here is my step by step photos on how to apply this nail kit. I've used Pattern 2 from the guide above.

Note: It is very easy to apply and it dries quickly so you won't need to worry when it overlaps.

...and it's done. Just add a thin layer of top coat.

Have fun!!! :)

Nail Marbling

Have you tried a nail marbling yet? I did. :) Although it is a bit tricky, it's honestly fun to do once in a while. The first time I've tried that, it took me 2-3 hours as the colors tend to mix altogether and ends up looking like mud so I kept repeating the process. I seriously feel like you'll need a lot of patience doing this.

Here's how I did my recent nail marbling.

Materials used:
Toothpick, Tape & A glass of water
Nail polish used:

Nail 009 (BK), Step Right Up (OPI)
Repair Nails Face it Top Coat (Face Shop)

Procedure:
  • Cover your fingers with tape completely leaving only the nails.
  • Put a drop of nail polish on a glass of water then add another drop of a different nail polish on top of the first one & repeat for several times. Note: Not all nail polish works well so u have to try & test.
  • Using a toothpick, lightly create a line pattern by dividing the nail polish as shown below. Repeat as many lines as you want.
  • After creating your line pattern, dip your nail in the water for the pattern to transfer into your nail. Using the same toothpick, remove the excess nail polish while your nail is submerged in the water.

Note: It is best to use a tape to avoid creating a mess while doing your nail marbling. Here's how it looks like without the tape. :P

Disaster!!!

  • Remove the tape & clean the excess nail polish around your finger.
  • Let it dry for a while then apply a top coat.

Have fun!!!

Gradient Nails

I've been wanting to do the gradient nails for quite some time now, I've tried using sponge and gradient nail brush but it's just too much work. Good thing my brother's girlfriend bought a gradient nail polish from etude house so I was able to try it too and here's how it looked like:

I was so happy about it so I wanted to try other brands as well, so I got these for S$9.90:

These are quite easy to apply, they're labeled as A, B & C.

And here's how it looks like after applying:

Lastly, applying a thin layer of top coat to finish the look.

Just a little sunshine

This nail polish is so cool... It's just like magic :) 'coz it changes color under the sun. I'm just not sure how much this costs 'coz I only got it as a gift.

To put it to the test, I used nail stickers on my entire nails and use this color changing nail polish as a top coat then we went cycling.

See the difference? It turned pinkish red under the sun as if it was burning. Cool right :)

I heard they have different colors too.
